Consciously not spending

Hello Friends,

This week I’ve been reading about folk who are setting themselves the challenge of not spending, whether it’s for a day, a week, or longer.

I have huge admiration for anyone who can do this.  It’s all about self discipline and I can see how this can help lead to financial freedom.  It’s also about a change of mindset: moving from feeling you have to consume to being content with what you have.

This feels scary – how can I go without spending?  But I know I’ve got to do things differently if I’m ever to escape the treadmill of work and live the life I really want.

So I’m just going to take one step at a time.  Today, the only things I spent on were some mushrooms and my train fare home.  This week I’m going to go through the cupboards and the freezer before I think about going shopping.

It will get easier if I keep going a step at a time – others have done it, and I know I can too.

How did you start out when you started your frugal journey?

Until next time, Tawney x
