A new way to save money in January

Hello Friends,

Well it’s payday tomorrow and we’ve just about made it to the end of the month, and we’ve had to come up with some creative ways to get by.

I’m sure many of you will have store loyalty cards where you collect points every time you make a purchase and then use them to save money.

I have a Boots points card and save my points on these to buy make-up for work – the cheapest brands seem to work just fine.

I had a payout of £24 in vouchers from the Co-Op in the summer and was saving these and the points on another supermarket card for Christmas.  One of my friends then told me how she saves her points and vouchers for January, when things are tight after Christmas.  This seemed like such a good idea to me that I thought I’d give it a go rather than blowing the points on things we don’t really need in the run up to Christmas.

I ended up with over £60 in points and vouchers by the end of December, and I’ve used these this month to help us get by – it’s made a huge difference.

What tips do you have for collecting points and saving money?

Until next time, Tawney x

  1. I earn my Christmas present/food buying money by scanning my groceries all through the year and sending the barcodes off each week. If the till receipts are sent as well, that adds more points – and more money. I had amassed nearly £200 by end of November 2011, which was when I claimed my rewards and did my Christmas shopping.
Look up ‘ShopandScan’ if you want to try this saver! (Hope I’m allowed to write that.)

  2. I have a Sainsbury’s card, i got it a year ago and use it when i get Newspapers and Magazines etc.. I just hit 5 Pounds.. It pays after a while
