I hate shopping

Hello Friends,

This afternoon I went shopping.  My brother gets married in a few weeks and I wanted to buy a pair of shoes.  I had forgotten how much I dislike trekking round malls.  All the shops sold exactly the same thing and not what I had in mind at all.  There I was, walking round in flat shoes, jeans and waterproof mac feeling distinctly scruffy, while everyone else was made up to the nines and wearing their best clothes to buy more clothes to wear to the mall next time.

After 2 hours I had had an argument with Bee, my feet hurt, and I was thoroughly fed up.  We came home, and I’ve decided to wear a pair of shoes I already have.  (There’s a story to those shoes which I will tell soon).  I want out of all this consumerism.  Last night I was talking to a former work colleague who shared my views – I really think that the simple life is attracting more and more people.

Tonight I have got something to look forward to.  I’m meeting up with some friends on Frugal Hill for a party – we’re all bringing our instruments and we’re going to have a bit of a jamming session.  OH has even dug his keyboard out and will be taking that too.

How are you spending your weekend?

Until next time, Tawney x

  1. I hate shopping too. If I haven’t found what I want in 30 minutes then that’s it. How can anyone enjoy shopping in those vast malls? Everything looks the same. However, I did find a very nice woman in M & S last week who obviously took pity on me (I find looking helpless works – being rather old) who behaved like the old fashioned shop assistants did and HELPED. I found what I wanted for the wedding in 15 minutes and that was that. The accessories are taken care of – so I reckon 15 minutes for the lot is not bad at all. Just hope it keeps fine xxx

  2. Well I went to Birmingham today to try to find something new for when we go out to celebrate our 25 th Wedding Aniversary in June. I hate Birmigham but thought that there would be more of a selection…..after a long morning and I am ashamed to say not being very nice to R who was very patient I have come home empty handed and ordered something I had seen on a website weeks ago! You are not alone down with shopping. Unless its John Lewis which is slightly better and I should have gone to Solihull.
