Libraries

Hello Friends,

There’s been a lot of talk about the demise of the book recently.  I don’t own a Kindle yet.  Maybe I will one day, but if I tell you I still own a mobile phone the size of a brick that doesn’t even have a camera, you’ll understand that I’m not a gadget freak. I love books, although I don’t get much time to read at the moment.

The library in our local town is quite small but I can always find something interesting there.  I’ve just taken back a book on being self sufficient on a quarter of an acre.  This was really interesting covering everything from composting, growing in raised beds and keeping hens and other livestock.

Last autumn I borrowed a book on homemade gifts.  I made some bags for the nieces for Christmas, which was fun.  I often borrow cook books to get new ideas for family meals.  I have bought a couple of cook books after borrowing them from the library and use them frequently.  Borrowing them from the library gave me the chance to find out if they were any good for me, so I didn’t waste my money.

Have you borrowed anything interesting from your local library recently?

Until next time, Tawney x

  1. I love books and use the mobile library – this saves me carting books home on the ‘bus. I do wish more people would use it but realise the timing is not good for workers (9.25 a.m.). The staff on our van are incredible – they know what the individual readers like and make lots of suggestions. I just hope this is not one of the local government “economies”. This is such a great service – I highly recommend it to Frugalhilliers.
