Frugal fitness

Hello Friends,

As my interest in cooking from scratch to save money has grown, so unfortunately has my waistline.  We also have a cake culture at work.  Whenver it’s somebody’s birthday, they bring in cake – usually home made.  It would be rude to say no, but I’m just at the age where I could go seriously blobby if I’m not careful.

I’ve been in denial a bit, but the final straw occurred when for the second time in a week I found a pair of trousers were a bit tight.  I’m not going to buy a whole new wardrobe in a size larger – that’s just a waste of money.

I won’t be going to the gym – the new leisure centre isn’t within walking distance and I don’t want to pay gym fees.  I’ve been walking walking to work for the last 18 months, but I think I need to do more.  Tonight I dug my bike out of the garage and did a ride suggested by OH.

The ride started out on the flat,  then I went up a long, but not too steep climb before dropping back into the valley.  I have to confess I had to push my bike up the last part of Frugal Hill – at 1:4 in places, it’s just too steep.  I did manage to ride almost all of it, so I can’t be that unfit.  I’m hoping that if I can ride once or twice a week, do a zumba class at the pub and carry on walking to work, I will begin to shift the muffin top.

I’m also going to have to cut down on the cake and biscuits.  One of my friends has lost over half a stone just by eating sensibly.  I think it might be down to willpower…

How do you get fit frugally?

Until next time, Tawney x
