Getting inspired

Hello Friends,

We all need a bit of encouragement now and then.  It can be quite challenging to keep working towards living a simpler, more frugal life.  Sometimes I just want to go out and splurge, or I feel like I can’t be bothered to cook, or it all seems too much effort.  In the face of peer pressure and advertising it can be a challenge to do things differently.

These are warning signs I’ve learned to recognise.  Sometimes I need a bit of a nudge to keep going and I’m slowly learning where to go for a bit of inspiration.  I read fellow bloggers – some of those are listed on the right (well, maybe not my mad daughter’s year abroad blog!) – and learn how others are faring on their journey to a simpler life.

I dig out my cookery books for new meal ideas, I experiment and when it works I want to do more.  I spend as much time as I can outdoors and get inspired by gardens and gardeners, and friends who share my outlook on life.

I usually feel encouraged to keep going, no matter how hard it might be at the time.

Who or what inspires you on the road to simple living?

Until next time, Tawney x

  1. Oh gosh, I totally feel you on this. I am nowhere near simplified in my life yet, but have been making babysteps to get there. But I get you – I go out and buy groceries for the week, and then end up stopping at Wendy’s on the way home and indulging just because I’m totally lazy. Sheesh. >_< I think it's always a work-in-progress, and it's easy to guilt myself over the slip-ups, but sometimes you just have to -allow- those moments to happen. It's always kind of a kick in the butt to restart my motivation. I guess, kind of how you have to reach rock bottom before you dig yourself back out? Except, instead of reaching rock bottom, it's more like sticking a toe in and poking at the bottom and realizing that water is really freaking cold and pulling your foot out really quick to dry off. …yeah. hahaha! Anyway, just wanted to comment to let you know: YOU ARE NOT ALONE!
