Sometimes it’s nice to have a little bit of family time and I’m going to allow myself to step off the frugal wagon temporarily tomorrow.
If you have been reading my blog for a while, you will know that my eldest daughter, Edie, is on her year abroad on her university course. Since the beginning of September she has been studying Russian at Petrozavodsk State University in northern Russia. Her blog, ‘The Year of Two Alphabets’, is on my sidebar.
This evening she will be home for Christmas. She is getting a lift most of the way home from Heathrow with a friend and we will be going to collect her later on.
Edie has coped really well with living abroad, and has also managed her money well. She was able to save enough to go travelling in reading week and has had some great adventures.
She has told me about few things she has missed and would like to do in the first couple of days back. These include:
- milky tea
- a fried breakfast tomorrow morning
- a pint of real ale
- a takeaway curry
Tomorrow we are going to take some family time and treat her to all these things.
What do you miss most about being away from home?
Until next time, Tawney x
